The summertime is always a special season for everyone. It’s the time of year that gives you a reason to get out there and discover your surroundings, develop new hobbies and just be more active. Whether you enjoy hiking, camping out in the woods or relaxing by a body of water, there’s a plethora of activities available for all during the summertime.
However, with great summer fun, comes many risk factors. Whether these are snakes in the gorges, grizzly bears in the mountains, or simply weird-looking insects, you’re likely going to encounter them at some point during your trip. Make sure to take all measures to ensure you’re prepared for this encounter, and can stay safe. Learn the right way to react when you see a bear or a snake, make sure to always be wearing bug spray to ward off any insects, and always keep your tents closed and food secure to keep these animals out of your campsite. - Learn to Read MapsIn an ideal world, you could get to a trailhead and figure out exactly which way to go intuitively. However, quite a few hiking trails are not that easy to navigate. One wrong turn could potentially lead you somewhere completely different than intended, which could make it nearly impossible to find your way back, and that’s definitely not good. Make sure you can understand a paper map and study the trail you’re taking very carefully. Not to mention, always share your hiking plans with someone you trust. If you ever get lost, it’s important that people have a good idea of where to look for you.

One of the best parts of summertime is finally getting the opportunity to enjoy the bodies of water in your surroundings. You no longer have to spend big bucks and venture all the way to a Caribbean beach in order to enjoy the cool water under the sun.
