The Back Raft offers a positive alternative to traditional techniques of immobilizing patients on a longboard. Designed by EMT's, Paramedics, and Emergency Physicians, the Back Raft helps to alleviate pressure points which in turn helps to avoid the development of ulcers. The Back Raft is a low cost, disposable air mattress that provides patient comfort and reduces secondary injury. Prolonged immobilization on a spine board has been associated with the development of pressure sores in spinal cord injury victims. The Back Raft allows for full function of the spine board.
