Esophageal Intubation Detector (EID)- Syringe Model
Esophageal Intubation Detector (EID)- Syringe Model Description:
The EID esophageal intubation detector is a disposable device to verify proper endotracheal tube placement that utilizes the anatomical differences between the trachea and esophagus. Due to the fact that the trachea has cartilaginous structures making it a rigid structure when vacuum is applied by depressing the EID, the device will refill easily if the ET tube is in the trachea. If the ET tube is in the esophagus, which is a much softer structure, when the EID is depressed the device will not retract due to the fact that the esophagus has collapsed around the ET tube.
